It's week 3 of the term and i'm officially
burned out.
Okay maybe not 100% burned out like i
can't even continue anymore, but i'm just really exhausted from all the studying and
stuff from these past 3-4 weeks. The hectic-ness and stress level nowadays i'm
experienced is like NOTHING i've ever felt before.
It's Friday today so i came home
early, it's the only day i have no extra lessons/ exams. I was just so so so
tired and brain fried and exhausted however you describe it, so i just showered
and took a nap. It was when i was lying in bed that i realized i
couldn't fall asleep despite how tired i was; because there was too much going
on in my mind. It was then i started to think about how much i'm stressing
myself out these few days, worrying about if i can finish my revision in time or
homework by this weekend. School is really taking its toll on me.
This week was the worst.
I go to school at 7.30am in the morning,
have lessons until 2.30pm OR
3.30pm (depending on the
timetable) with only half
and hour of recess in the
middle. That's 6-7hours of lesson each day. THEN, after school
we get half an hour of 'lunch' which is bloody not enough lah ok
2.30pm whole school release leh canteen so crowded how to eat. After 'lunch' we
have either ANOTHER 2 hours of lessons OR we have another 2 hours of exam/test. Until 5pm, I'll have
freaking math tuition
with Yeeler (sidenote: i really appreciate yeeler helping me out w/ math cos
it's tiring for him too x) all the way will 7pm
or 7.30pm. THEN, i get home (i'm thankful that i stay 5-min walk away from
home tho whew) and bathe and dinner & everything within 45minutes, before
starting STRAIGHT AWAY on homework + revision. I usually study till 11pm-11.30pm and go to sleep just before 12am.
After 6+hours of sleep and the whole cycle repeats again the next day.
It's exhausting.
If i break it down;
With 6
hours of sleep, we have to endure almost 10
hours of studying the next day IN SCHOOL. That's not including revision + homework at home, if
included, it's around 13hours.
And mind
you, we all are students so
you would understand what i'm saying; that lessons in school are not all 'slack-ish' and 'no-need-pay-attention-just-blindly-copy-corrections' or 'always-talk-to-friends-no-need-listen' now
ok.
We have impromptu tests
every few lessons, some are not impromptu so they're more difficult & need
to study one. PLUS, copy corrections also need brain power to process the
correct answers and we obviously have to pay attention when the teacher
explains the correct answers. Even when we're tired from not enough sleep, we
have to stay awake during lessons and try to at least understand what the teacher is saying. Even
worse when we're assigned classwork, need brain to complete right!! It's not
even that easy to 'anyhow' write answer and hand up, because 'anyhow' write
also need to work our brain ok...... listening in class is already demanding,
for me. Especially with not enough sleep.
THEN HOR, STILL GOT TESTS SOME MORE, tests are not anything that
we can skim through y'know, especially after a 40-50 minute test during lesson
we're all really tired/brain fried already, aaaaannnndd ANOTHER FEW LESSONS
FOLLOWING THAT. Not even surprising.
Then after 6 lessons from
morning to afternoon, we have to add ANOTHER 2 hours of lesson (every day btw..) which is bloody bloody bloody
sian x10000000000 already. Had 2.5hours of BIOLOGY lesson
on Wednesday and i swearrrrrrr the lesson was really intense lor like a LOT to take in and digest.
What makes it worse is if
these 2 hours were used for a mock exam; yesterday we had a FULL E.MATH PAPER1
for the mock exam and walao i tell you that paper gave me a bloody bad headache
afterwards because i thought too hard during that paper, it's math leh helloo.
THEN TA-DAH, afterwards i
have Math tuition with Yeeler, basically what i do during tuition is practice
papers and practice papers AND practice papers all the way. By the time tuition
ends i'm already legit tired,
no other word, just tired.
And after school, needless to say, still got tons of homework to do and revision too.
But still, i think i'm better than a lot of other students, at least i don't have to travel long distances to get to school, so i can get more sleep + time for work than most of them.
ANYWAY, i just needed to get all of that out. I'm pretty sure many
of us are experiencing the same stress and all, but it comes with who we are
and the kind of education we're having. JIAYOU EVERYBODY.
And neither are you,
I hope all the 'o' level students out there will pull through everything & don't get too stressed out. :)
Hope you guys have a good weekend ahead! Happy Friday the
13th.
xx <3
